AlongFor is a pilot for coordinating small local plans. We process the minimum needed to run accounts, activities, join requests, and safety reports.
What we store
Email address (for passwordless sign-in), display name and bio you choose, activities you create, join requests, optional private meet/contact details (shown only to you and approved guests), blocks, and reports. Magic-link and session tokens are stored only as cryptographic hashes.
Location and external services
AlongFor uses precise device location only after you choose Use my location. If device location is unavailable, the server may use city-level IP location through ipapi.co. Place searches use Open-Meteo geocoding, and the web map loads tiles from OpenStreetMap; those providers receive the network information needed to answer the request. We use location to find nearby plans and do not publish your precise device position.
What we do not do
We do not sell personal data. Exact meet details are not shown on public cards or social previews. Demo mode runs entirely in your browser memory with no API account.
